Bahrain Mourns Qatar's Father Amir
Kingdom declares four-day official mourning; flags at half-mast
Bahrain has declared four days of official mourning following the death of Qatar's Father Amir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, with flags to fly at half-mast across the Kingdom throughout the period.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ordered the mourning, and the Royal Court announced the decision on Sunday.
In a formal statement, the Royal Court described the late Father Amir as a wise leader who devoted his life to serving his people, nation and humanity. The statement conveyed the Kingdom's deepest condolences to Qatar's ruling Al Thani family and extended particular sympathy to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, as well as to the Qatari government and people.
Shura Council President His Excellency Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh separately cabled his counterpart in Qatar, Council President His Excellency Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, praising the late Amir's lasting national legacy and the development Qatar witnessed under his leadership. A condolence message was also sent to Qatar's Ambassador to Bahrain.
