Shura Council Backs Equal Opportunities Drive
Secretary-General highlights royal vision at inaugural equality competition
Shura Council Secretary-General Kareema Mohammed Al-Abbasi reaffirmed the council's commitment to equal opportunities and national talent empowerment. She described the kingdom's progress in this area as a reflection of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's leadership, supported by the close follow-up from Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Al-Abbasi said the Shura Council's General Secretariat actively supports initiatives aligned with those led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Women, to advance the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.
Her remarks came at the first edition of the "Equality and Excellence 2026" competition, organised by the Secretariat's Equal Opportunities Committee. Teams competed across eight categories including institutional culture, women in governance, and memory challenges. The Communications Department claimed first place, the Legal Advisors Board finished second, and the Digital Systems and Solutions Department placed third.
