Muharraq Governor Highlights National Achievements

The Governor of Muharraq, His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al Manai, emphasized the importance of celebrating national achievements and documenting the contributions of Bahrain’s early pioneers, stressing that such efforts are vital to preserving the Kingdom’s historical and cultural memory.

Speaking during the Muharraq Governorate Council meeting, the Governor said Muharraq takes pride in the documented expressions of loyalty signed by prominent families, associations, and clubs across the governorate. He noted that these initiatives reflect deep-rooted national allegiance, unity, and unwavering support for the wise leadership, affirming that Muharraq will continue to represent a model of national cohesion and loyalty.

He also praised the wise leadership’s directives regarding the Muharraq development project, commending the efforts of the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Her Excellency Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, along with relevant ministries and authorities, for implementing these directives on the ground.

The Governor further underscored the importance of documenting the achievements of national figures, highlighting that such records serve as an inspiration for future generations. He commended a recently presented publication documenting the journey of Bahraini runner Abdullah Boushneb, noting that preserving the stories of local pioneers helps safeguard the Kingdom’s sports and national heritage.

In this context, the Governor conveyed citizens’ aspirations to preserve national memory by naming streets and roads after prominent figures. He relayed a proposal from community members to name a road in Old Muharraq after the late writer and poet Ali Abdullah Khalifa.

The Council session also featured a presentation by Mohammed Al Jazaaf, Chairman of Al Jazeera Cultural Center, and Dr. Khalid Boumati, head of the center’s cultural council, who introduced a summer youth program titled “Your Summer is Different.” The initiative offers courses in artificial intelligence, acting, and photography. The Governor praised the program for developing youth skills and productively utilizing their summer break.

During the meeting, residents also presented a number of suggestions and concerns, calling for stronger legislation and regulations governing the use of motorcycles in residential areas to ensure public safety and reduce disturbances for residents and road users.
