Jaber Al Khalifa in fine form

Team Bahrain’s vastly experienced Jaber Al Khalifa has his eyes set on the Bronze category title ahead of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East at Dubai Autodrome this weekend.

Having delivered some impressive performances over the last three rounds, Al Khalifa keeps Team Bahrain in touching distance of fourth placed Qatar outfit Frijns Structural Steel ME in the overall team standings giving them everything to drive for in the next three rounds.

Jaber reached the podium for the fifth time in six races so far this season last weekend at Yas Marina Circuit and hope to continue with his consistent form this weekend and come away with maximum points.

He will be determined on securing silverware with every opportunity, meaning he could seal victory in the Bronze category at his home racetrack of Sakhir in less than two months.

“It has been a great season so far and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Racing alongside these hugely talented drivers is incredible and really motivates me to compete to the best of my ability in every race. Securing the Bronze category title is of course the main goal, but I want to concentrate on each of the next six races as they come and finish the season with the most amount of points possible for me and also Team Bahrain.”

In the individual overall standings, Jeffrey Schmidt (150 points) leads the pack from an unprecedented six consecutive wins, just a mere 22 points ahead of Kuwaiti teammate Zaid Ashkanani and Ryan Cullen of Ireland. Abdulaziz Al Faisal follows in hot pursuit of a place on the podium, and with everything still to play for in both the drivers’ and team championships all eyes will be on either end of the grid as the slightest of margins could prove pivotal in the pursuit of the most prestigious of honours in Middle Eastern motorsport.

The region’s leading drivers will line-up in the Porsche 911 GT3 as the star attractions at Dubai Autodrome.

The drivers will face 10 laps of the 5.39KM Grand Prix Circuit at the Dubai Autodrome with Round 4 Race 1 tomorrow and Race 2 on Saturday.
