Shura Council Marks International Parliament Day

The Human Rights Committee of the Shura Council has highlighted Bahrain’s parliamentary experience and its role in supporting human rights, rule of law and national development.

The committee, chaired by Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Khuzai, praised the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for strengthening the legislative authority and its role in developing laws that protect rights and freedoms.

Marking the International Day of Parliamentarism, observed on June 30 under the theme “Highlighting Human Rights,” the committee said parliaments play a key role in promoting freedoms, justice and legal protections.

The committee also praised cooperation between the legislative and executive branches, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, saying the partnership has contributed to strengthening Bahrain’s legal framework.

It reaffirmed the Shura Council’s commitment to advancing human rights through legislation, oversight and supporting laws that promote equality, justice and sustainable development.
