AI Boosts Bahrain’s Legislative Efficiency, Says MP
Shura Council member Dr. Ibtisam Mohammed Saleh Al Dallal has highlighted Bahrain’s experience in adopting artificial intelligence and digital technologies as a model that strengthens institutional efficiency and improves legislative outcomes.
Speaking during the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee meeting of the Arab Parliament, Dr. Al Dallal said Bahrain’s digital economy strategy, launched under Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, has supported the Kingdom’s position as a regional technology hub.
She highlighted Bahrain’s efforts in digital transformation, including hosting the region’s first Amazon cloud data centre and adopting advanced legislation such as the Personal Data Protection Law.
Dr. Al Dallal said the Shura Council has integrated AI solutions into parliamentary and administrative operations to improve analysis, accelerate processes and support knowledge-based decision-making.
She noted that the Council’s AI initiatives include a smart virtual assistant that helps members and staff access legislative documents, previous laws, reports and parliamentary records through an interactive digital platform.
The Shura Council has also launched specialised training programmes in AI and data analysis while maintaining high cybersecurity and data protection standards.
Dr. Al Dallal added that the Council ranked first among Arab parliaments and 13th globally among 115 parliaments in 86 countries according to the International Parliamentary Union’s Digital Maturity Index.
