The Ministry of Sustainable Development has submitted Bahrain’s Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) for publication on the United Nations website ahead of its presentation at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, scheduled to take place at UN Headquarters in New York this July.

Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), said Bahrain remains committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) despite regional challenges, with just four years remaining until the 2030 target date.

She noted that the Kingdom continues to strengthen its comprehensive development model under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The 2026 review highlights Bahrain’s efforts to integrate the 17 Sustainable Development Goals into its national development agenda. It outlines progress in areas including education, healthcare, social support, environmental protection, climate action, innovation, digital transformation, and inclusive economic growth.

The report also showcases a range of strategies, projects, and initiatives that reflect Bahrain’s commitment to sustainable development and align with the theme of this year’s UN forum, which focuses on transformative, equitable, innovative, and coordinated action for achieving the 2030 Agenda.

Bahrain previously presented voluntary national reviews in 2018 and 2023, outlining progress in implementing the SDGs, supporting economic recovery, advancing digital transformation, and pursuing carbon neutrality goals.

The latest review reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts under Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and its commitment to building strong national and international partnerships that promote sustainable development and prosperity for future generations.
