Bahrain and Kuwait targeted in pre-dawn strike condemned across the Arab world

Iran launched a fresh wave of ballistic missile attacks against Bahrain and Kuwait in the early hours of Saturday, firing seven missiles toward the two Gulf nations in what regional governments swiftly condemned as a blatant act of aggression.

Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack as a flagrant violation of both countries' sovereignty and a grave breach of the United Nations Charter. The ministry specifically cited UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026)—which previously condemned Iran's attacks and its attempts to close or obstruct navigation through the Strait of Hormuz—as further proof of Iran's continued defiance of international law.

Bahrain called on Tehran to immediately cease its attacks, reopen the Strait of Hormuz without restriction, disclose the locations of naval mines and cooperate in their removal, and establish a safe humanitarian corridor for civilian vessels. The ministry also demanded the safe departure of more than twenty thousand seafarers currently stranded in the region.

Missiles Intercepted  

Kuwait's Armed Forces spokesman Colonel Saud Al-Otaibi confirmed that the military detected and engaged all hostile ballistic missiles within Kuwaiti airspace at dawn. U.S. Central Command said American forces intercepted ballistic missiles launched toward Kuwait and Bahrain. While no direct hits were reported, shrapnel from the intercepts fell over several residential areas, causing material damage on the ground. 

Regional condemnations

Kuwait declared full solidarity with Bahrain, emphasising that the security of all Gulf Cooperation Council states is indivisible.  Saudi Arabia issued its strongest denunciation of the attacks, calling them brutal aggression and a direct threat to regional and international security. Qatar condemned the strikes as a violation of international law and called for immediate de-escalation to restore regional stability. Jordan described the attacks as a dangerous escalation that undermines all ongoing efforts to restore peace in the region, pledging absolute solidarity with both countries.

Iran has been conducting a sustained campaign of missile and drone strikes on Bahrain since late February 2026, targeting both military installations and civilian infrastructure across the island kingdom. Saturday's predawn attack marks a significant escalation, striking two Gulf capitals simultaneously and drawing unified regional fury. With the Strait of Hormuz still partially obstructed and thousands of seafarers stranded, the human and economic cost of the conflict continues to mount.
