Equality Forum Preparations Underway

 

- Bahrain delegation to attend global conference in Belgrade next June

- Discussions focused on coordination and logistical preparations

- Conference theme highlights gender equality and social inclusion

 

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan Ali, Chairman of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee at the Shura Council, met with Her Excellency Tatjana Garčević, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Kingdom of Bahrain, to discuss preparations for the participation of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation in the 2026 Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians.

The conference is scheduled to take place in Belgrade, Serbia, from June 1 to 4, 2026, under the theme: “Advancing Equality: Breaking Barriers to Gender Stereotypes and Negative Social Norms.”

During the meeting, both sides reviewed coordination and cooperation arrangements related to Bahrain’s participation in the conference, which the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) organizes in cooperation with the National Assembly of Serbia.

Discussions focused on ensuring effective participation by Bahrain’s delegation, facilitating the necessary arrangements, and following up on related procedures, reflecting the strong relations and ongoing cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan Ali expressed appreciation for the Serbian ambassador’s efforts in coordinating the delegation’s participation and praised her commitment to providing support and facilitation to ensure the success of Bahrain’s involvement in the conference.

He highlighted the importance of the conference as a leading international parliamentary platform dedicated to strengthening the role of women in parliamentary work and public life, as well as exchanging experiences and views on equality, empowerment, and participation in decision-making.

He also commended Serbia’s efforts in hosting and organizing the event, which contributes to enhancing dialogue and cooperation among parliaments worldwide.

For her part, Ambassador Tatjana Garčević reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to providing all necessary support to ensure the successful participation of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation. She also praised the continued growth of Bahraini-Serbian relations across various sectors, further strengthening prospects for bilateral cooperation.

The Bahraini delegation participating in the conference includes Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan Ali as head of delegation, Dr. Jameela Mohammed Redha Al Salman, Chairperson of the Services Committee at the Shura Council, MP Zainab Abdulameer Khalil, and MP Mohammed Mohammed Al Refaei.
