Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff to perform live on April 1

Legendary reggae musician Jimmy Cliff would be performing live on April 1 during the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) announced yesterday.

The Jamaican star, who is an inductee into the Rock and Roll Halle of Fame, will be making his debut in Bahrain before an expected packed crowd in Sakhir.

Cliff is best known by music fans across the world for chartbusting songs such as Wonderful World, Beautiful People, Many Rivers to Cross, You Can Get It If You Really Want, The Harder They Come, Reggae Night and Hakuna Matata and his covers of Cat Stevens’s Wild World and Johnny Nash’s I Can See Clearly Now.

At 67, Cliff is the only living musician to hold the prestigious Order of Merit, which is the highest honour that can be granted by the Jamaican government for achievements in music and sciences.

The 2016 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix weekend is scheduled for April 1 to 3. It will be the second of a record 21 races on the Formula 1 season. Cliff will be taking to the Main Stage of the Formula 1 Village vending area following Formula 1 practice session.

All those with tickets to this year’s Bahrain Grand Prix will be able to watch the concert free of charge and tickets are now on sale for the mega event.

They are currently available at specially discounted prices under BIC’s Early Bird offer. The reductions are up to 20 per cent for a limited period only. Cliff is just the first of a series of world-renowned artists who will be flying into the Kingdom to perform live at this year’s Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Others are expected to be announced soon by the BIC. Tickets for the show are available at Bahrain City Centre and Seef Mall in Seef area.
