AI and Robotics-Focused University Takes Shape in Bahrain
Bahrain is preparing to attract an international university specialising in advanced technology fields, with the upcoming launch of Capital University this September, focused on artificial intelligence and robotics.
Businessman and Chairman of Capital School, Adel Al-Safar, said the project is an extension of his investment in education, building on the success of Capital School, which follows the British curriculum from primary to secondary levels. He added that government support and a favourable regulatory environment have helped make the move into university education possible.
The initiative reflects the Kingdom’s growing emphasis on future-ready education, as AI and robotics continue to transform industries globally - from smart manufacturing and autonomous systems to data-driven innovation and digital transformation.
Developed in partnership with India’s Vellore Institute of Technology, the university aims to combine global academic expertise with Bahrain’s focus on emerging technologies.
Capital University will offer programmes in computer science, artificial intelligence, and robotics, emphasizing practical, industry-relevant learning.
It is also expected to build collaborations with international technology partners, linking academic study with real-world applications in key innovation sectors.
Marketing activities will begin soon, with student registration planned before the new academic year, pending final approvals.
The initiative supports Bahrain’s broader goal of strengthening its position as a regional hub for innovation and advanced education.
