Bahrain and Portugal Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Developments
Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, held a telephone call with Paulo Rangel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the call, both sides reviewed the longstanding ties of friendship between the two countries and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
The discussions also covered recent regional developments, including the implications of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation, and its impact on global trade, the economy, and energy and food supplies.
In addition, the two ministers examined opportunities to enhance coordination in international forums, particularly within the United Nations Security Council, as Bahrain prepares for its non-permanent membership for the 2026–2027 term.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation on issues of shared interest at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
