Manama: A man has been sentenced to five years in prison for stabbing another man at the Malikiya coastline, in a case that stemmed from a dispute between the two.

The First Major Criminal Court found the 24-year-old defendant guilty of the attack, which took place on October 20, 2025. The court also ordered the confiscation of two knives used in the incident.

According to case details, the altercation began with a disagreement over a phone call. The victim later agreed to meet the defendant at the Malikiya coastline and arrived with a group of friends. The defendant reportedly asked to speak with the victim privately before suddenly stabbing him in the chest.

The victim collapsed due to the injury, while his friends quickly intervened and restrained the attacker at the scene.

A Ministry of Interior officer who responded to the incident said the victim was later found receiving treatment at a hospital for a chest wound. A forensic medical report confirmed the injuries and stated that the victim sustained a permanent disability of 1 percent.

Investigators recovered two knives from the scene, which were later linked to the attack. The defendant admitted to carrying out the stabbing during questioning by authorities and also confessed before the Public Prosecution.

The court subsequently issued its verdict, sentencing the defendant to five years in prison and ordering the seizure of the weapons used in the crime.
