Children visiting parks across the Northern Governorate are increasingly encountering broken benches, damaged walkways, and neglected corners, as public spaces continue to suffer repeated vandalism.

The issue has prompted Northern Municipal Council member for the Ninth Constituency, Abdulla Al Qubaisi, to call for urgent intervention, warning that the problem has moved beyond routine maintenance and into the misuse of public assets funded by taxpayers.

Raising the matter during a remote council session focused on park and walkway maintenance budgets, Al Qubaisi stressed that increasing expenditure alone will not solve the issue.

He cautioned that without stronger deterrents, repeated vandalism will continue to drain public funds through constant repair cycles. Director-General Mohammed Al Sahli acknowledged the scale of the challenge, noting that despite ongoing efforts to provide quality services, weak public compliance is undermining sustainability.
