No Space for Gatherings… Council Moves to Create Community Halls

For many families, finding a place to host a simple gathering has become a challenge. Limited local options force residents to look beyond their neighbourhoods, often at a financial cost that adds pressure to everyday life.

Decision

In response, the Northern Municipal Council approved two proposals submitted by Third Constituency representative Mohammed Saad Al Dosari to allocate land for multi-purpose community halls in Budaiya and Jasra. The recommendations were referred to the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and relevant authorities.

The first proposal involves allocating Property in Budaiya to construct a multi-use events hall serving local residents.

The second focuses on establishing a multi-purpose hall in Jasra, to support the activities of Jasra Youth Empowerment Centre.

Al Dosari stressed that both proposals respond to a clear and growing community demand, driven by population increase and the lack of suitable venues for social and youth-related activities.

In Budaiya, the lack of accessible halls limits residents' options, often forcing them to rent facilities outside their area and which places an added financial burden on families.The proposed halls aim to provide accessible spaces where residents can host social events, community gatherings, and cultural activities, helping to strengthen local ties and bring people together within their own neighbourhoods.

In Jasra, the need carries a different dimension.

Al Dosari highlighted the lack of properly equipped facilities to support youth programmes. The new hall would offer a structured environment for initiatives, activities, and national programmes aimed at engaging young people and developing their potential.

With council approval secured, both proposals move forward as part of a broader effort to align public spaces with real community needs. Residents look towards facilities that not only serve practical purposes but also strengthen social connections and provide young people with spaces to grow, participate, and belong.
