Bahrain Crown Prince Meets UK Defence Secretary

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister of Bahrain, met today with John Healey, Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the military and defence sectors.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness highlighted the longstanding and strategic ties between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, noting that the relationship is built on deep-rooted partnerships and cooperation across multiple sectors.

HRH the Crown Prince emphasised the shared commitment of both nations to further enhance collaboration, especially in defence and military coordination. This includes continued cooperation under key agreements such as the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), aimed at advancing mutual interests and security.

His Royal Highness also commended the United Kingdom’s prominent international role and its efforts to promote regional and global security and stability.

The discussions explored ways to expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in defence, while also addressing recent regional developments and their impact on international security. A number of other issues of mutual interest were also reviewed.

The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, Minister of Defence Affairs, and Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff of the Bahrain Defence Force.
