Yousuf Salahuddin, a candidate representing the Sustainability Bloc in the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), has highlighted the bloc’s confidence in its leadership and its commitment to advancing the Kingdom’s business environment through experience, inclusivity and innovation.

He said the bloc takes pride in being led by Nabeel Khalid Kanoo, citing his extensive track record within the Chamber and his roots in a prominent merchant family that has played a significant role in Bahrain’s economic development.

Salahuddin noted that Kanoo began his career at the Chamber on August 1, 1979, as an economic researcher, before rising through the ranks over 27 years to become Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

Expertise

He described the Chamber as a “professional school” that helped shape Kanoo’s expertise and economic vision.

The candidate added that the Sustainability Bloc brings together seasoned professionals and young talent, creating a balance between experience and fresh ideas.

This combination, he said, strengthens the bloc’s ability to address future challenges while promoting sustainable growth.

Enterprises

The bloc, he explained, represents a broad cross-section of the business community, with a strong presence from small, medium and micro enterprises.

This diversity reflects its commitment to ensuring that the voices of merchants across all sectors are heard within the Chamber and at the government level, contributing to the development of a more inclusive business environment.

Influence

On women’s participation, Salahuddin underscored their growing influence within the Chamber, noting that women account for approximately 42.5 per cent of total membership.

He described this as a testament to ongoing national efforts to empower Bahraini women, enabling them to assume leadership roles and actively contribute to economic development.

Salahuddin also acknowledged the institutional support provided by the Supreme Council for Women and the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Yousuf Salahuddin in advancing this progress.
