As part of efforts to deal with the impact of recent regional tensions, the President of Customs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, said that the Executive Council of the GCC Customs Union Authority has introduced a temporary and exceptional logistics transit mechanism.

He explained that the new mechanism aims to speed up the movement of goods between GCC countries, reduce operating costs, and ensure smooth trade flow across different entry points.

The system is based on creating a fast logistics corridor linking major ports and airports in GCC countries using customs-sealed trucks, without the need for final customs clearance at transit points. This helps reduce time and simplify routine procedures. Shipment data, including cargo details and related documents, will also be shared in advance between customs authorities to ensure efficient and smooth movement.

The President of Customs added that priority will be given to essential goods such as food, medical supplies, and perishable items to ensure they arrive on time without delays. Clear security measures will also be applied to trucks and goods, with necessary action taken in case of suspicious shipments, while maintaining speed and efficiency.

This mechanism will help ensure the smooth flow of goods between GCC countries during crises, improve logistics efficiency, reduce customs complexities, and support Gulf customs and economic integration. It also helps maintain the competitiveness of regional and global markets while ensuring fast and smooth trade across all participating entry points.
