US Embassy in Bahrain Orders Shelter-in-Place for Staff

The United States Embassy in Bahrain has issued a security alert advising all American citizens in the Kingdom to shelter in place until further notice.

According to the embassy, the shelter-in-place order applies to all US personnel, with officials recommending that American nationals across Bahrain take the same precautionary measures.

The embassy urged citizens to move to a secure location inside their homes or another safe building and ensure they have adequate supplies of food, water, medications, and other essential items.

Americans have also been advised to avoid demonstrations, maintain a low profile, and remain alert to their surroundings. Monitoring local media for updates and being prepared to adjust plans if necessary is strongly recommended.

The embassy further encouraged citizens to keep their mobile phones fully charged and maintain communication with family and friends to inform them of their safety and status.

US nationals in Bahrain are advised to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive timely updates and security information.
