The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf said it had BD400,000 in approved project funding for the 2024 fiscal year, allocated across several spending lines under its annual plan and in line with legal and financial procedures.

In written replies to Parliament’s Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, the ministry said lower spending on some project allocations was due to payment schedules linked to contracting and delivery stages, as well as organisational and technical factors.

The responses were included in the committee’s report on the state’s consolidated final account for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024, and related budget tracking documents prepared by the Ministry of Finance and National Economy.

The ministry said BD135,100 had been earmarked for restoration and maintenance of mosques and places of worship, infrastructure fees and works to strengthen electrical supplies. Actual spending varies depending on the number of sites covered. It also carried out building works in 2024 to improve space utilisation and requested refurbishment of its main building to reflect organisational changes, including upgrades to courtrooms.

In coordination with relevant authorities, projects were prepared and approved, with some rescheduled to the 2025 and 2026 budgets. Several technology projects were delivered through tenders, affecting spending rates.
