60-Mosque Plan Moves Ahead in Bahrain
Under the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to open, renovate and rehabilitate 60 mosques under the Sunni and Jaafari Endowments across Bahrain’s governorates, the Jaafari Endowments held a foundation stone-laying ceremony for Al Buraq Mosque and Kumayl bin Ziyad Mosque in East Sitra City.
The ceremony was attended by Yousif bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Jaafari Endowments Council, members of the council, MPs Jalila Alawi Al Sayed and Mohsen Ali Al Asbool, Director-General of the Jaafari Endowments Abduljalil Ali Al Hayaki, Capital Trustees Board Chairman Eng. صالح طاهر طرادة, and a number of residents and invited guests.
In his speech, Al Saleh expressed pride in launching the two mosque projects during the holy month, describing them as the first mosque projects supervised by the Jaafari Endowments in East Sitra City. He highlighted that the projects reflect Bahrain’s ongoing urban and civilisational development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He stressed the vital role mosques play in strengthening society, promoting religious values, and fostering unity among community members.
Al Saleh noted that the continuous directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to develop mosques across the Kingdom reinforce Bahrain’s Islamic identity. He added that the two projects aim to meet the needs of residents and provide a suitable environment for worship, especially in new housing and urban development areas.
He also praised the ongoing support for places of worship from the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, chaired by Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, and the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, headed by Minister Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, in coordination with relevant government entities and the community.
Residents of East Sitra City welcomed the projects, describing the two mosques as important religious and social landmarks that will serve the local community.
