Hamad Town Tunnels to Get Security Eye?

The Northern Area Municipal Council is considering a proposal to install security cameras inside key tunnels along Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Street in Hamad Town.

Supporters say the cameras would help monitor traffic constantly, improve road discipline, ease congestion, and allow faster response to accidents or fires. The idea is preventative, aiming to reduce risks before they turn into bigger problems rather than reacting after incidents occur.

The council is also looking at other measures to improve neighbourhood life. One focuses on regulating construction noise in residential areas, particularly late at night or on public holidays, to reduce friction between residents and contractors.

Other discussions include camera coverage on Al Janabiya Road, sewage and infrastructure updates in Hamad Town, public parking plans, health centre progress, and land-use requests.
