HM King Hamad Attends Ramadan Iftar in Washington D.C.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain hosted a reception in Washington, D.C., following the Iftar of the holy month of Ramadan, during his current visit to the United States to participate in the inaugural Peace Council meeting. The event was held at the invitation of President Donald Trump, President of the United States.

The reception was attended by distinguished guests, including President Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Steve Witkoff, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Jared Kushner, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President, foreign ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, senior U.S. officials, members of the U.S. Congress, and representatives of countries participating in the first Peace Council meeting.

During the reception, His Majesty exchanged cordial discussions with attendees on the deep-rooted historical friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and their countries, the continued progress of joint initiatives in various fields of mutual interest, and the topics on the Peace Council agenda, which aims to advance the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and reconstruction efforts.

In his speech, His Majesty highlighted Bahrain’s longstanding ties with the United States, spanning more than 130 years, starting with the establishment of the American Mission Hospital. He emphasized the evolution of this friendship into a strategic partnership, including Bahrain being the first U.S. major non-NATO ally in the Gulf and one of the first signatories of the Abraham Accords.

His Majesty also stressed Bahrain’s role in promoting peace, coexistence, and tolerance as core national values, noting the Kingdom’s vision for the future in the digital economy and sustainable growth. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the United States and its contribution to regional and global stability.
Following the King’s speech, Jared Kushner praised His Majesty’s wisdom and his pivotal role in supporting peace and strengthening security in the region. He welcomed the King’s visit, noting its importance in enhancing the strategic partnership between Bahrain and the United States.

The reception also featured speeches emphasizing the significance of the inaugural Peace Council meeting and its role in advancing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire and reconstruction.
