Manama: The Bahraini Down Syndrome Society has intensified its efforts to empower national talent and strengthen the special education sector by prioritising the training and employment of Bahraini graduates, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour.

As part of the initiative, the Society trained 30 recent graduates from the University of Bahrain and other universities through an intensive two-month programme led by specialised trainers from the Society. The programme focused on both theoretical and practical aspects of special education, with particular emphasis on supporting individuals with Down syndrome.

Upon completion of the training, participants were evaluated and a number of outstanding graduates were selected for employment as specialist assistants at the Society. The move aims to further develop their professional skills and integrate them into the specialised work environment.

Ahmed Al Ali, Executive Director of the Bahraini Down Syndrome Society, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s belief that investing in national talent is the foundation of sustainable development in the sector. He noted that, in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, the Society was keen to provide graduates with both training and real employment opportunities to prepare them for long-term careers in special education.

He added that cooperation has also been established with Cairo University to enable the newly appointed assistants to pursue academic studies in special education, with the goal of qualifying them scientifically and professionally to assume roles as certified specialists.

Al Ali stressed that the project represents a practical model of partnership between national institutions and leading Arab universities, benefiting both the labour market and children with Down syndrome, who receive specialised educational services delivered by well-trained Bahraini professionals.

The initiative forms part of the Society’s broader strategy to develop its services, enhance the quality of care and education for people with Down syndrome, and support the labour market with specialised national competencies in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
