Manama: The Ministry of Interior has confirmed the arrest of a 29-year-old man accused of targeting a 17-year-old girl through a social networking platform and attempting to exploit her by intimidation and online manipulation.
According to the ministry, the case was handled by the Child Protection Unit in Cyberspace, operating under the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security. Authorities said the suspect was apprehended in less than a day after the complaint was formally filed.
Investigators launched rapid digital tracking and intelligence procedures immediately after receiving the report. This included monitoring online activity, gathering electronic evidence and verifying technical data, which ultimately led to the identification of the individual involved and his arrest.
Officials confirmed that all required legal steps have been completed and that the case is being prepared for referral to the Public Prosecution.
The Child Protection Unit renewed its warning to families about the growing risks faced by minors on digital platforms. Parents were urged to actively supervise their children’s online behaviour, maintain open communication about potential online threats and ensure that young users understand how to react if they encounter suspicious or harmful contact.
