Attempt to smuggle expat woman from Bahrain foiled

A man was recently caught smuggling a woman from Bahrain into Saudi Arabia through King Fahd Causeway, Saudi authorities announced yesterday.

Officials of Saudi Customs at King Fahd Causeway revealed, “In a strange smuggling attempt, a man was caught while attempting to smuggle a woman into the Kingdom by hiding her underneath piles of clothes on the floor mats of the back seats.”

Customs Director General Dhaifallah Al Otaibi explained that the attempt was foiled at dawn yesterday.

“During ordinary inspection of the vehicle, a foreign woman was found on the floor mat of the backseats of the car and the driver covered her with piles of clothes to conceal her from the customs inspector. Necessary procedures in the matter are underway,” Al Otaibi told Al Arabiya News Agency, without revealing the identity of the woman or the driver.

He added that King Fahd Causeway Customs are taking huge efforts to prevent smuggling banned products or illegal individuals into Saudi Arabia, at the same time he highlighted the efficiency of Saudi customs at all entry and exit points (airports, seaports and land borders.)

According to the report, similar attempts were foiled during the previous years on King Fahd Causeway.
