Manama : A man is facing legal proceedings in Bahrain after a road accident in which a pedestrian lost their life. The incident, which prosecutors say resulted from the driver dozing off behind the wheel, has now been brought before the First High Criminal Court as authorities examine charges linked to the case.

The prosecution stated that the incident happened when the driver lost full control of the vehicle after becoming drowsy while driving along the road. As a result, the car mounted the roadside area and struck a pedestrian, causing severe injuries that proved fatal. The impact led to extensive damage and prompted immediate intervention by emergency services, though the victim could not be saved. Emergency services were called to the scene following the impact, but the pedestrian succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was arrested and later admitted that he had fallen asleep while driving.

During a recent court session, the defendant appeared in custody as the judge heard the prosecution’s account. The court has scheduled the next session for February 24, when a verdict or ruling on charges which may include negligent driving and causing death by careless conduct is expected.
