Manama: The Ministry of Works has signed an agreement to implement the Budaiya Highway Development Project following the completion of technical bid opening procedures by the Tender Board. The project forms part of ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of the road network across the Kingdom of Bahrain.

His Excellency Engineer Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Hawaj, Minister of Works, said the Ministry is preparing to begin preliminary works to remove existing service conflicts, once the remaining contractual and administrative procedures are finalised in coordination with the relevant authorities. This step will pave the way for the start of the main construction works.

Minister explained that the project responds to urban expansion and increased population density, aiming to provide advanced infrastructure capable of accommodating higher traffic volumes while supporting national development goals and improving quality of life. Spanning 6.7 kilometres, the project covers the section of Budaiya Street from its intersection with Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Street to Al Janabiya Street, based on comprehensive traffic studies conducted by the Ministry in line with Traffic Council recommendations to improve traffic flow and road efficiency.
