Manama: Ministry of Health has announced the withdrawal of several Nestlé infant formula products from local markets as a precautionary measure to safeguard the health and safety of children. The decision comes amid global concerns over potential contamination affecting certain batches of infant nutrition products.
In a statement, the ministry said the withdrawal is being carried out as a preventive step, despite no confirmed health incidents linked to the products. Consumers have been advised to check the details of the affected products by scanning the QR code provided in the official notice. For further inquiries, the public can contact the dedicated hotline at 80008100.
The ministry emphasised that the measure reflects its commitment to maintaining high food safety standards and protecting public health, particularly for infants and young children.
Similar actions have been taken in Qatar. Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has warned against specific Nestlé infant formula products following the brand’s global recall over suspected contamination. The MoPH confirmed that no illnesses have been reported in Qatar, that the affected products were immediately removed from store shelves, and that laboratory testing is currently underway. Families were urged to return recalled products to points of sale for proper disposal.
Meanwhile, in the United Arab Emirates, the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) announced a voluntary and precautionary recall of a limited number of Nestlé infant formula products, including several NAN, Isomil, and Alfamino variants. The recall was initiated after traces of Bacillus cereus, a bacteria capable of producing the toxin cereulide, were detected in one of the raw materials used in production. Authorities have reported that all necessary steps are being taken to fully remove the affected batches from the market.
