An advert selling an electric generator online put a Bahraini man in the dock, accused of renting the machine using someone else’s ID card and a forged hire contract, the High Criminal Court heard.
Prosecutors said the defendant, 33, used a valid identity card belonging to another person during September and October 2025 to get equipment from a construction hire shop.
He is accused of signing the shop’s rental agreement while posing as the cardholder, using a forged signature, and then handing the paperwork back to the business as if it were genuine.
Delivery
The shop manager told the court the man first rented a generator and asked for it to be delivered to East Riffa.
After the delivery, the customer handed the workers a copy of an ID card, the witness said.
The next day, the same man ordered another generator to be delivered to a different address, according to the manager.
This time, the ID card given to staff carried another name.
Sale
Days later, on 3 October, the manager said he spotted an online advert offering a generator for sale and believed it matched the one hired out on the second order.
A report was filed at a police station and an inquiry began.
Investigators later recovered the generator and confirmed it belonged to the shop, prosecutors said.
Contract
One of the shop’s workers identified the defendant as the man who received the generator on both occasions, saying that on the second visit an ID card belonging to someone else was produced and the customer signed the hire contract under that person’s name.
The court has adjourned the case until 11 January.
