Travel Agency Owner Arrested Over Fake Travel Package Scam

Manama: The Ministry of Interior has arrested the owner of a travel agency and another individual in connection with a fraud case involving fictitious travel packages, authorities said.
The Economic Crimes Department of the General Directorate for Combating Corruption, Economic and Cyber Security said the two suspects, aged 67 and 46, were detained after multiple complaints were filed by victims who said they were deceived into booking non-existent travel offers.
Following the reports, authorities launched investigations, gathered evidence, and identified the suspects before making the arrests. Legal procedures are now under way to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
The General Directorate urged citizens and residents to remain vigilant when dealing with travel and tourism service providers, stressing the importance of verifying the authenticity of offers and bookings.
Members of the public were encouraged to report suspected fraud by calling the hotline 992 or through the ‘My Government’ application.
