Bahrain’s Interior Minister Welcomes UAE Delegation
Discuss Alternative Sentencing Programs
Bahraini Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General His Excellency Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received this morning Brigadier Saeed Ali Lutaah, Acting Director General of Correctional and Rehabilitation Institutions at the UAE Ministry of Interior, along with his accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Sheikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director General of the General Directorate for the Execution of Sentences and Alternative Penalties.
At the start of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the UAE delegation’s visit to Bahrain, aimed at exchanging expertise and learning from Bahrain’s experience in implementing alternative sentencing programs. These initiatives have become a model for criminal justice reform and strengthening community security through constructive societal partnerships.
The Minister expressed his pride in the close historical and fraternal ties between the two countries, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His UAE counterpart, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He praised the strong security cooperation and the ongoing commitment to sharing expertise to ensure collective security and protect the achievements and interests of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
He highlighted that Bahrain’s alternative sentencing project, part of broader rehabilitative initiatives, reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to societal development and cohesion. The program emphasizes a balance between community protection and individual rehabilitation, making penalties a means of reform and greater societal benefit, grounded in justice and social responsibility.
During the meeting, both sides also discussed various security topics and ways to enhance the exchange of successful experiences to support joint development in their fields.
