HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister meets with the Speaker of the Council of Representatives and the Chairman of the Shura Council

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with HE Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and HE Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, who were accompanied by their respective deputies and members of both bureaus and the two councils, at Gudaibiya Palace.

His Royal Highness affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to implementing national plans and initiatives aligned with a comprehensive vision, aimed at enhancing government workstreams.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad underscored that citizens are the cornerstone of the Kingdom’s progress, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of cooperation between the Executive and Legislative Branches to serve the Kingdom and its citizens.

His Royal Highness stressed the need to advance this partnership, highlighting its role in driving the implementation of plans and initiatives that benefit all the Kingdom’s residents. 

His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of strengthening social services, enhancing support programmes, and optimising national resources to ensure Bahraini citizens are prioritised in services and entitlements, in accordance with Royal directives.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad noted that, through constructive cooperation with the legislative branch, the Cabinet decided to maintain existing electricity and water tariffs for the first and second tiers for citizens’ primary residences, and to defer the development of related support mechanisms pending further study.

His Royal Highness stressed the importance of sustained partnership between the executive and legislative branches in reaffirming the commitment to safeguarding public funds and preventing the misuse of resources, thereby enhancing spending efficiency in the service of the public interest and the Kingdom’s far-reaching objectives.

His Royal Highness also noted that the Cabinet approved several initiatives aimed at adjusting the Kingdom’s fiscal situation, whilst ensuring the continuity of support for Bahraini citizens. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to the legislative branch for its constructive cooperation during the joint meetings between the Executive and Legislative branches concerning the package of initiatives designed to enhance financial stability and guarantee sustained support for citizens.

For their part, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives and the Chairman of the Shura Council expressed their gratitude and appreciation to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his unwavering commitment to strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom’s executive and legislative branches, in support of achieving Bahrain’s desired goals and ensuring prosperity for all.

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, HE General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, and several senior officials, also attended the meeting.
