Bahrain Moves Faster on Housing: 7,000 Services Approved

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace on Sunday.

During the meeting, the Cabinet praised the royal address delivered by His Majesty the King on the occasion of Bahrain’s National Days and the 26th Accession Anniversary, expressing appreciation to citizens and friendly nations for their congratulatory messages.

A key focus of the meeting was the housing sector. In line with the directives of His Majesty the King to accelerate the delivery of 50,000 new housing units, His Royal Highness directed the immediate provision of 7,000 housing services. The initiative coincides with the Kingdom’s National Day celebrations and the 26th Accession Anniversary, reflecting the leadership’s commitment to meeting citizens’ housing needs. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning was tasked with taking the necessary executive steps to implement the directive.

The Cabinet also reviewed strong bilateral ties between Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, noting the mutual gestures to name landmarks in both countries in recognition of the close relationship between the two nations.

In addition, the Cabinet noted the inauguration of the Manama Municipality Building following its renovation, highlighting its historical significance since its original opening in 1962.

The meeting stressed the importance of continuing to enhance social services and support programmes for citizens, including electricity and water subsidies for first homes, as well as additional support for low- and middle-income families to improve living standards and employment opportunities.

The Cabinet also underscored the need to safeguard public funds, ensure efficient spending, and direct social support to those most in need.

The Cabinet extended its congratulations to all those celebrating Christmas in Bahrain and abroad.

Finally, the Cabinet approved several draft resolutions and reviewed ministerial reports related to civil aviation, government restructuring, occupational safety, environmental protection, education quality, and Bahrain’s participation in regional housing and social affairs meetings.
