HRH Prince Salman’s vision and leadership shape Bahrain’s bright future
MP Dr Maryam Al Dhaen said Bahrain’s recent gains across science, healthcare and the economy were being driven by the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for a sustainable future.
She said the Kingdom was making rapid progress in scientific, health, economic, tourism and investment fields, which she linked to the development push led by HRH Prince Salman.
MP Al Dhaen credited HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister with promoting a team-first culture, sharpening government performance and strengthening co-operation between the executive and legislative branches.
“This approach has helped speed up delivery and produce tangible results on the ground,” she said.
Indicators
The lawmaker said Bahrain’s improved performance indicators were rooted in long-term planning, backing Bahraini talent and improving how public bodies work, with sustainability built into public policy and the citizen placed at the heart of development.
She pointed to schemes such as the Government Workforce Development Programme and the Government Innovation Competition (Fikra) as part of efforts to improve performance and raise results.
MP Al Dhaen said Bahrain had stepped up work in science, research and innovation by developing academic programmes, building ties with international universities and research centres, and supporting national talent, as part of a shift towards a knowledge-based economy built on innovation and technology.
Research
She also pointed to progress in space science, saying research capacity linked to the sector had been developed, with work aimed at uses in telecoms, climate and environmental sustainability. “The move towards space sciences shows strategic awareness of the field’s importance,” she said. On healthcare, she said the system had advanced through improved facilities, medical skills and the use of modern technology.
Care
She described the Bahrain Genome Project as a key step in advanced care, with a role in preventive medicine, earlier diagnosis and treatment plans suited to the genetic make-up of Bahraini society. The legislator said the focus on genomics formed part of a wider push to use research and advanced technology to improve quality of life and strengthen Bahrain’s role in precision medicine and health research. On the economy, MP Al Dhaen said Bahrain had strengthened its position as a financial and investment centre through balanced policy, simpler procedures for investors and efforts to widen income sources by raising the share of non-oil sectors in GDP.
Challenges
She said this had helped sustain growth despite regional and global challenges. The lawmaker added that foreign direct investment had grown, driven by investor trust in Bahrain’s business environment, a clear economic direction, the Kingdom’s location and developed infrastructure. MP Al Dhaen said the results provided a base for further development, building on gains and meeting citizens’ expectations, while supporting Bahrain’s long-term development goals.
