Civil Defense Launches Public Safety Campaign for Camping Season

The General Directorate of Civil Defense has launched a public awareness campaign to coincide with the winter camping season, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen community partnerships and promote public safety.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among campers about the importance of following safety and preventive measures, while also educating them on how to properly deal with emergency situations.

As part of the initiative, Civil Defense stressed the need for campsite owners to adhere to safety guidelines, including ensuring electrical connections are secure, keeping generators away from tents, avoiding smoking or lighting fires inside tents, and refraining from using gasoline to ignite charcoal or firewood due to the serious risks such practices pose to lives and property.

The campaign also highlights the importance of having a portable fire extinguisher and a first-aid kit available at campsites, in addition to allocating a safe and suitable area for cooking away from tents. These measures help reduce the risk of accidents and ensure a swift response when needed.

Civil Defense said the campaign forms part of its continuous efforts to enhance public awareness of safety and prevention requirements, wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable camping season.
