A 47-year-old Saudi national, convicted in connection with a bomb blast in Adliya, had the initial ruling against him upheld.

He is accused of two separate bomb attacks, including one that occurred in Adliya in 2012, for which he is serving a total of 45 years in prison.

Two homemade bombs were planted in Adliya on November 5 2012, one of which seriously injured a sanitation worker.

One of the devices planted near the Dilmun School injured Gulf City Cleaning Company worker Dhana Ram Sainin, while the second bomb placed near an electricity generator was defused by the bomb squad.

The bomb that went off was one of five explosives detonated in Gudaibiya and Adliya within a matter of hours on the same day, killing two people.

Four natives were also convicted in connection with this case and were jailed for 15 years each for detonating the explosive.

Police was aware of the involvement of a fifth person in the crime after DNA samples belonging to an unknown person were unearthed from scene.

The accused's identity came to light following an interesting turn of events.

The accused was reportedly sued by his ex-wife after he refused to admit the paternity of a child and the court ordered him to undergo a DNA test.

Following the DNA test, it was found his samples were a perfect match with the samples recovered from the blast location. Therefore he was nabbed and charged in connection with blast.

The 47-year-old earlier pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, possessing and using explosives and spreading panic.

It's worth to note he was initially sent to 15 years in jail after he was held guilty of setting off a bomb in Gudaibiya on November 7, 2012.

In yet another case, he was found guilty of storming into Hyundai dealer First Motors' compound, and was handed down 15 years in prison, bringing his total jail term to a whopping 45 years.
