On Syria’s Historic Liberation Day, Bahrain Extends a Message of Unity and Hope

Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has extended its warmest and most sincere congratulations to the new Syrian administration on the occasion of Syrian Liberation Day, commemorated on December 8th.

This year's observance holds profound and historical significance, marking the first anniversary of the monumental end to the Ba'athist regime and the over five-decade rule of the Assad family, an event that unfolded on December 8, 2024. Declared a national public holiday by President Ahmed al-Sharaa in October 2025, the day officially signals a new and hopeful political chapter for the brotherly nation of Syria.

The 2025 commemoration serves as a watershed moment, a national declaration of intent for a "free, sovereign, united, and inclusive" future, following 14 years of devastating civil conflict. Celebrations, ranging from the festive public gatherings in Damascus's Umayyad Square to military parades in Aleppo and Homs, have underscored a collective spirit of hope for the future.

Historically, Bahrain and the former Syrian regime maintained relations, notably high-level meetings between King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. However, the current messages from the Kingdom are interpreted as a firm endorsement of the transitional government and a shared, forward-looking commitment to fostering regional stability and prosperity under the new leadership in Damascus.
