Bahrain Hit by Light 3.3 Quake

A light earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 struck the Kingdom of Bahrain early Monday morning, according to a statement released by the Meteorological Directorate. The tremor was recorded at 23:58 UTC (2:58 AM local time) on 1 December 2025.

The epicenter was located at coordinates 26.07°N, 50.60°E, placing it within Bahrain’s territory — likely south or southeast of Manama, in the vicinity of Riffa or East Riffa.

The Directorate confirmed the event, noting: “An earthquake has occurred – Magnitude 3.3 mb, Date 01.12.2025, Origin Time 23:58 UTC, Location: Kingdom of Bahrain.”

No injuries or structural damage have been reported. With a magnitude of 3.3, the quake is considered minor. While many residents may not have felt it, those on higher floors or in quiet areas could have experienced mild vibrations similar to a passing truck.

Earthquakes originating within Bahrain are extremely rare, as the country lies far from major seismic fault lines. Most previous tremors felt locally have been linked to distant earthquakes in southern Iran. Experts believe today’s event was likely a shallow, isolated tremor caused by minor tectonic movement or activity related to oil and gas extraction.
