Assistant Undersecretary for Sanitation at the Ministry of Works, Eng. Fathi Abdullah Al-Faree, conducted a field visit to the construction site of the main transmission line for treated wastewater, extending from Hamad Town to the Buri area. He was accompanied by a team of ministry engineers to review progress on the project, which has reached 36% completion.

Eng. Al-Faree confirmed that the project is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure across the Kingdom of Bahrain, meet the needs of citizens and residents, and ensure a healthy and safe environment.

The project includes the construction of a 1,200 mm diameter pipeline stretching 783 meters using tunneling technology. It also involves installing 600 mm high-pressure pipelines spanning 239 meters, another 900 mm pipeline extending 1,012 meters, and a 900 mm main sewer line covering 90 meters, also executed through tunneling. Additionally, the works include establishing a pumping station with a capacity of 700 liters per second.

During the visit, the Assistant Undersecretary highlighted that the project aims to upgrade and expand Bahrain’s sewage networks and treatment systems in line with the country’s rapid urban growth, contributing to improved services across all regions.

He noted that the nature of the fieldwork requires several temporary traffic diversions in specific areas. These diversions follow a carefully planned scheme designed to minimize disruptions to traffic flow. He urged all citizens and residents to cooperate by adhering to warning signs, guidance boards, and approved diversion routes to ensure the safety of both road users and project workers.

The project’s tender was awarded by the Tender Board to Abdulhadi Al Afoo Company (W.L.L.) at a total cost of BD 3,574,000.
