Bahrain Launched Seventh Bahrain International Trophy with Strong Regional and Global Participation

The seventh Bahrain International Trophy opened yesterday at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, attended by senior members of the Royal Family, officials, diplomats, and a large crowd of racing fans including His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports,and His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Court and Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Club.

His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the continued growth of Bahrain’s horse racing sector, crediting the support of His Majesty King Hamad and the efforts of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He said the sector’s development has strengthened Bahrain’s global profile and cemented its reputation as a host for major international sporting events.

Sheikh Isa highlighted the Bahrain International Trophy’s rising international stature and commended the strong organization that continues to attract leading global stables, trainers, and jockeys. He also congratulated the winners and commended the efforts of Bahraini organizers and club staff.

At the event’s conclusion, His Highness presented the Bahrain International Trophy to trainer Karl Burke after Royal Champion, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, won the 2,000-meter main race for imported horses.

The evening featured eight competitive races with trophies presented by ministers and officials on behalf of sponsoring organizations. Key results included victories by Kahilaan Wald Um Zrir 1959, California, Midhhal, Tawareq, Bourdet, Devast, and Royal Scimitar, while Royal Champion claimed the main title.

The successful staging of this year’s edition further reinforced Bahrain’s standing as a regional and international hub for elite horse racing.
