Bahrain Launches Global Justice Bay and International Commercial Court

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, attended the inauguration of the King Hamad Lecture for Neutral Justice today at the Isa Cultural Centre. The landmark event marks a significant milestone in Bahrain’s efforts to strengthen its legal and judicial institutions.
In his address, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the launch of the Bahrain International Commercial Court (BICC) and the introduction of “Global Justice Bay,” positioning Bahrain as a hub for international dispute resolution and legal collaboration. He expressed gratitude to Singapore’s judiciary, particularly Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon and his team, for their partnership in realizing this vision.
“Every thriving economy rests on trust, and trust rests on justice,” HRH the Crown Prince said. “The Bahrain International Commercial Court stands on three principles: justice enables prosperity, independent institutions command trust, and justice must adapt to the modern, digital economy.” He emphasized that the Court will serve regional and international enterprises efficiently and transparently, reinforcing Bahrain’s reputation as a fair and predictable commercial center.
Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Singapore, commended Bahrain’s visionary leadership and the establishment of the BICC, describing it as a historic milestone for institutional justice. He praised the strategic partnership between Bahrain and Singapore, noting that the BICC embodies the principles of geographical neutrality, institutional independence, and procedural agility.
“The BICC stands today as a beacon of justice and a pillar for a more stable, rules-based international commercial order,” Chief Justice Menon stated, highlighting Bahrain’s growing role in cross-border dispute resolution and international legal cooperation.
The King Hamad Forum for Neutral Justice convened judges, government officials, international legal experts, and commercial practitioners from over a dozen countries to explore innovations in cross-border dispute resolution and Bahrain’s vision to reinforce its position as a regional and global hub for commercial justice.
With the establishment of the BICC, Bahrain aims to uphold the highest international standards in commercial adjudication, promote modern dispute resolution mechanisms, and strengthen confidence in its judicial system, solidifying its status as a trusted center for legal innovation and global commerce.
Several senior officials attended the inauguration ceremony, marking the event as a defining moment in the Kingdom’s legal and economic development.
