His Excellency Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s steadfast support for measures that bolster security and stability.

He also stressed the need to deepen cooperation and integration among friendly states to achieve regional security and international peace. Speaking at the sixth meeting of Interior Ministers of the International Security Alliance in Abu Dhabi, H.E. Shaikh Rashid underlined the group’s operational successes and its impact on combating organised and transnational crime.

“This alliance has proven its effectiveness in combating organised and transnational crime,” he said, adding: “The joint operations have reflected the advanced level of security awareness and high readiness of the member states.”

He pointed to recent achievements, noting that “the thwarting of attempts to smuggle massive quantities of narcotics is the fruit of robust coordination and effective integration among participating security agencies.”

Peace

Reiterating Bahrain’s position, the Minister declared: “We reaffirm the Kingdom of Bahrain’s unwavering position in supporting efforts that contribute to enhancing security and stability, and consolidating the principles of cooperation and integration between sisterly and friendly countries, in order to achieve regional security and international peace.”

He also paid tribute to the UAE’s leadership of the Alliance: “We highly value the leading role played by our sister nation, the United Arab Emirates, in leading the International Security Alliance and its distinguished initiatives to strengthen joint security efforts.”

H.E. Shaikh Rashid said the Alliance’s recent field exercise in Bahrain demonstrated readiness and professionalism, praising the UAE’s support and personal involvement.

“I extend my sincere thanks to His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his keenness and personal attendance at the exercise, which was characterised by realism in preparation, planning and implementation,” he said.

At the close of the meeting, participating ministers confirmed their continued commitment to develop a unified framework for strategic, technical and field police cooperation.

Joint statement

In a joint statement, they welcomed the accession of Brazil to the Alliance, a move described as expanding the network of member states across continents and reflecting the Alliance’s strategic openness and responsiveness to evolving geopolitical and criminal threats.

On the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi gathering, H.E. Shaikh Rashid held bilateral discussions with several counterparts, including Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Singapore’s Coordinating Minister for National Security, Senegal’s Minister of Interior and Public Security Mohamed Bamba Cisse, and Spain’s Minister of the Interior Fernando Grande.

The talks focused on enhancing security cooperation, exchanging operational experience and establishing mechanisms for coordinated action against emerging threats.

Concluding his remarks, H.E. Shaikh Rashid stressed the importance of continued communication and knowledge exchange among member states to bolster policing systems and crime-fighting capabilities.

“We must exert further efforts to strengthen the frameworks of coordination and cooperation to maintain the Alliance’s achievements,” he said, calling for sustained collaboration to meet the rapid changes in the global security landscape.
