The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) organised a series of training workshops for representatives of large, medium, and small enterprises, as well as human resources personnel, to introduce the Enhanced Wages Protection System (WPS).
The system requires private sector employers to pay wages electronically through banks and financial institutions licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB).
LMRA explained that the WPS is a digital platform linking the Authority with relevant government entities and the banking sector, ensuring accurate data exchange and providing a comprehensive wage database.
The system supports labour market policies, enhances stability, and strengthens Bahrain’s competitiveness.
System
The Authority noted that the system streamlines wage payments, ensures compliance, and reflects establishments’ financial and administrative efficiency.
It also reduces operational workload particularly for small and micro enterprises through integrated payroll management, flexible payment options, and detailed wage and financial reporting.
LMRA highlighted that the system provides legal documentation of employers’ compliance, helps reduce labour disputes and financial claims, and accelerates their resolution.
Submission
The Authority urged private sector employers to assign a Wages Responsible Person via the Expatriate Management System (EMS), select “Wages Protection Services,” and appoint authorised delegates to review and verify wage files prior to submission.
The workshops form part of LMRA’s efforts to strengthen engagement with private sector partners, raise awareness of labour regulations, and provide technical support for the system’s effective implementation.
