Bahrain Advances National Afforestation and Mangrove Initiatives
His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa has affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to adopting and implementing strategies aimed at sustaining natural resources and protecting the environment, in support of the Kingdom’s development efforts. This comes in line with the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
HH Shaikh Mohammed made the remarks while chairing a meeting at Al Riffa Palace today to review the latest progress of the National Afforestation Plan and the “Mangroves of Bahrain” initiative. The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials, where His Highness was briefed on the achievements made so far.
He praised the efforts of all relevant authorities, national initiatives, and community contributions that have supported these environmental projects.
HH Shaikh Mohammed highlighted that the “Mangroves of Bahrain” initiative and the National Afforestation Plan embody a model of integration between development needs and environmental conservation, contributing to enhanced ecological balance. He noted the significant progress achieved to date thanks to the teamwork and dedication of all involved, under the spirit of “Team Bahrain.”
His Highness further emphasized Bahrain’s support for international efforts to address climate change challenges, through various environmental initiatives and projects that align with the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
