The High Commercial Appeals Court has rejected an insurance company’s claim seeking nearly BD2,500 from a Bahraini citizen, nine years after a traffic accident, according to lawyer Abduladheem Hubail.
Court documents show the case dates back to 2015, when a vehicle insured by the plaintiff company was damaged in an accident caused by the defendant, Hubail’s client.
A traffic report confirmed the defendant was at fault, and the insurer later paid BD2,481 in repair costs.
The insurance company argued it was entitled to recover the amount by substituting itself in the rights of the insured and subsequently filed a lawsuit.
The Court of First Instance initially ruled in the company’s favor, ordering the defendant to pay the sum.
