Asian Woman Faces Trial for Human Trafficking in Bahrain
The Acting Head of the Human Trafficking Prosecution announced that the Public Prosecution has completed its investigations into a human trafficking case and ordered an Asian woman to be referred to the criminal court. The trial is scheduled for September 9, 2025, at the High Criminal Court.
The case came to light after the victim filed a report with the Anti-Human Trafficking Department of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Evidence. She stated that she was lured to Bahrain with promises of a job, but upon arrival, her passport was confiscated, her freedom was restricted in an apartment, and she was threatened to force her into illegal activities.
The Acting Head of the Prosecution confirmed that investigations began immediately after receiving the complaint. The victim provided a detailed account of the abuse she endured. As part of the procedures, the prosecution placed her in the shelter run by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking and initiated legal actions against the accused.
Police were instructed to conduct further inquiries to clarify the circumstances of the case. After completing the investigation and reviewing the evidence, the prosecution referred the accused for trial in the criminal court.
