Bahraini Screenwriter Wins Prestigious Comedy Award for ‘Bobby Chicago’
Bahraini screenwriter Muhannad Sadiq Salman has been awarded the David Wollen Angel Award for Comedy for his feature film script, Bobby Chicago.
The film follows a murder that occurs during the school’s annual party, unraveling hidden truths amid a snowstorm that intensifies the mystery at a private school full of secrets. Nothing remains hidden when teenage detective Bobby Chicago, wearing a raincoat and speaking in a classic 1940s style, takes on the case. Despite being prohibited from investigating and narrowly avoiding expulsion, Bobby is determined to solve the puzzle before the school buries the truth forever.
Salman completed his studies in Biomedical Sciences in the United Kingdom before pursuing Drama, earning a Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from the University of Southern California. He also received the 2024 Prentiss Penny First Start Grant.
Today, Muhannad channels his passion for drama and sharp humor to explore cultural divides with wit, crafting stories about characters who strive to prove themselves despite challenges and conventional logic.
