Emergency Abroad: 30 Bahrainis Rescued Following Travel Agency Failure
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the safe return of 30 Bahraini citizens, mostly families and children, following an unexpected travel incident in a friendly country. The situation arose due to a local travel agency failing to meet its contractual obligations with a hotel.
Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Musallmani, Head of the Consular Services Sector at the Ministry, explained that the Ministry received a report about the incident and immediately coordinated with the Bahraini embassy in the country concerned. Necessary arrangements were made, including facilitating travel and ensuring the citizens’ return to Bahrain the following day.
Meanwhile, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority stated that its Tourism Oversight Department took legal action under the Tourism Law. The non-compliant travel agency was immediately closed by judicial officers, and its owner was referred to the Public Prosecution. The Authority emphasized that the agency had breached its obligations, causing harm to citizens, which violated existing regulations and requirements.
Both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Tourism Authority urged citizens to verify the credibility and reputation of travel agencies, and to deal only with licensed and accredited companies to protect their rights and avoid similar situations.
Ambassador Al-Musallmani highlighted that the Ministry prioritizes the safety and comfort of Bahraini citizens. The Ministry’s 24/7 Call and Follow-up Center is available to handle any emergency cases and can be reached at 17227555.
