SCW Launches New National Plan to Empower Bahraini Women (2025–2026)

Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), chaired the Council’s fifth meeting of its eighth term (2022–2025).

During the meeting, HRH Princess Sabeeka congratulated the SCW on its 24th anniversary, praising the Council’s achievements and the dedication of its members. She expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his continuous support, which she described as the cornerstone of the Council’s work in promoting the role of Bahraini women and their contributions to national development.

HRH Princess Sabeeka also thanked the Cabinet, led by His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, members of the Royal Family, senior officials, dignitaries, and the Bahraini people for their congratulations, noting that these acknowledgments reflect the Council’s important work and the progress achieved by women across various sectors.

The Princess commended the government’s ongoing cooperation with ministries and institutions, highlighting efforts to strengthen women’s participation in the economy and improve services provided to them. She emphasized the importance of continuing partnerships with government, private sector, and civil society institutions to ensure women’s stability while promoting equal opportunity and gender balance.

Looking ahead, HRH Princess Sabeeka announced that the 2025 Bahraini Women’s Day will celebrate the theme “Bahraini Women: Distinction, Creativity, Innovation”, recognizing women’s achievements in innovation, excellence, and national development. She also highlighted the upcoming National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025–2026) under the theme “From Empowerment and Progress towards Leadership”, which will guide the SCW’s initiatives to further support women and gender balance in Bahrain.

The meeting included briefings from SCW Secretary General Hala Lulwa Al Awadhi on the Council’s ongoing projects, participation in specialized committees, and collaboration with international organizations to strengthen the status of Bahraini women. The Council approved measures related to equal opportunity committees in government entities and discussed plans to establish a Women in Sports Committee.

HRH Princess Sabeeka concluded by thanking the Council members for their continued support and cooperation, wishing them success in their work.
